Sri Lanka’s tea market continued to be buoyant this week in the backdrop of lower volumes, totally approximately 4.9 million kg, the Forbes and Walker tea report stated.
There has been strong demand all round and the quality of teas on offer were reportedly “fairly useful for the time of year.
High and Mid Grown CTC teas were mostly firm with select bright liquoring invoices gaining Rs.10-20 per kg. Low Grown varieties continued to sell well. Low Growns were 2.1 million kg with an improved demand overall, the report stated.
In the Tippy catalogues , well-made FBOP/FF1s appreciated, while the cleaner secondaries and cleaner teas at the bottom gained substantially. In the Premium catalogues, Very Tippy teas continued to attract good demand.
