For the first time in Sri Lankan history a ‘Virtual Pandol’ will be brought to the television screens across the nation by Charana TV (CH.05 on PEOTV) on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day May 26 and the following day from 7 pm onwards.
Based on the theme around the tale of ‘Daddara Jaathakaya’ from the Pansiya Panas Jaathakaya (550 Jaathaka Tales), this pandol features nine frames that portray the story line in vivid colourful imagery. Designed encapsulating the glorious traditional structure and features of a pandol, this virtual television experience, brings to life its story in ‘virindu’ and narrative dialogue form to recreate an authentic experience, Charana TV said in a media release.
Charana TV is currently available on PEOTV and PEOTVGO, Channel No. 05 and reaches over 500,000 subscribers spread island-wide on TV, YouTube and other digital platforms.
