Colombo saw its share market recovering on Friday as opposed to early this week when it was down with analysts claiming retail play in mid cap stocks made sure of today’s gains.
Retail play has been persistent on the back of President Maithripala Sirisena sacking Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe without warning and swearing in the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa last month giving rise to chaos in local politics.
Listed corporates are sending their results out now and most blue chips saw heavy foreign selling during the past few months. The All Share Index (ASI) was up by 0.81 per cent to stand at 5,978.63 points at close with S&P up by 0.99 per cent to stand at 3,094.21 points on a Rs. 1.2 billion turnover. (DEC)
