Commercial Bank of Ceylon has become the first bank in Sri Lanka to offer access to over one million Boingo Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide at no additional charge to holders of World Mastercard credit cards issued by the bank.
This global benefit allows eligible persons to enjoy Wi-Fi in locations such as hotels, retail outlets, cafes and restaurants, airports and even on-board flights operated by select airlines, the bank said in a media release.
Eligible Commercial Bank World Mastercard cardholders can use the Boingo service for up to four devices, including any combination of smartphones, tablets and laptops.
To redeem the Wi-Fi benefit, eligible cardholders should visit mastercard.boingo.com/combank to get started.
Commenting on the launch of this benefit to cardholders in Sri Lanka, Commercial Bank’s Deputy General Manager Marketing, Hasrath Munasinghe said: “Staying connected while travelling overseas is often expensive. Data roaming is a hassle and free public Wi-Fi can be slow. With Boingo, our World Mastercard holders no longer need to worry about connectivity. This is another example of our continuing efforts to ensure that our customers enjoy the same benefits as their counterparts in other countries.”
R.B. Santosh Kumar, Country Manager – Sri Lanka and Maldives, Mastercard, noted: “At Mastercard we constantly seek to offer our cardholders benefits and privileges that are in line with their ever-changing lifestyles. Understanding the need to stay connected at all times in today’s fast paced world, we are delighted to offer Commercial Bank’s Mastercard cardholders travelling abroad for work and leisure a convenient and cost effective solution to their Wi-Fi needs.”
Boingo is one of the world’s leading Wi-Fi and cellular operators and a nine-time winner of “Best Wi-Fi Service” in the Global Traveler GT Tested reader survey awards. For a simplified connected experience, the Boingo Wi-Finder app makes it easy to find and connect to available hotspots. Boingo also offers Passpoint, a next generation hotspot technology that delivers a seamless and secure connected experience. - ENDS -
