Ceylon Tea has recorded the highest production levels in five years for May this year achieving 34.1 million kg.
The crop recorded a five per cent increase over 32.5 million kg produced in May last year which is second only to the record figure of 39.2 million kg declared by Sri Lanka Tea Board in May 2014.
All three elevations contributed towards this end with High Grown’s recoding the highest YOY quantity difference, the media release issued by brokers stated. In this respect it is likely that June will similarly achieve higher production than 2018, brokers said. (Sunimalee)
