With iPay, the revolutionary payment app introduced by Sri Lanka’s globally diversified financial conglomerate - LOLC, customers can now pay their PickMe fares via the LankaQR common QR code. Through this, customers can simply scan the QR code and authenticate their taxi payments, food orders and other PickMe services. iPay has partnered with the country’s first and leading ride-hailing app, PickMe to offer the best of convenience to its customers throughout the nation, LOLC said in a media release.
Through this partnership, iPay has enabled LankaQR payments via CASA (Current Accounts, Savings Accounts) to PickMe users. Payments can be made via iPay or any LankaQR enabled app. Furthermore, QR payments via Master and Visa are enabled for the app users.
Commenting on this collaboration, Conrad Dias, Director/CEO of LOLC Finance PLC said, “This is a much needed service, especially during this pandemic where people have changed the way they use cash. This service will encourage the habit of using less cash and it will promote health and safety amongst the general public on a larger scale. It is also encouraging to see how transport operators such as PickMe have reacted quickly to adjust their operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a leading payment aggregator in Sri Lanka, iPay is excited to partner and support this timely transformation, and we are optimistic that the public will make use of this service for the benefit of their own health and safety as well as others”.
Head of iPay, Charitha Jayasingha said, “iPay aims to take LankaQR to a greater level by on-boarding PickMe as a LankaQR merchant. This exercise will help to enable over 100,000 riders to the digital payment drive of Sri Lanka and customers could make transactions without using physical cash. We thank PickMe for believing in iPay and selecting LOLC Finance PLC as the acquirer financial institute”.
CEO of PickMe, Mr. Zulfer Jiffry noted, “We are excited to be working with LOLC and LankaQR to spearhead a revolution in how currency is used against the backdrop of a global pandemic.
