Japan has relaxed its travel advisory imposed refraining its citizens from holidaying in Sri Lanka in the wake of the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21.

Issuing a media release, the Japanese Embassy in Colombo stated that the travel advisory against Sri Lanka had been relaxed in the light of the “stabilization of security situation” in the wake of the “large-scale and intensive investigations and security re-enforcement by the concerned authorities.

The travel advisory had been relaxed from the previous level - 2 that asked Japanese citizens to refrain from non-essential travel to Sri Lanka to level -1 that advises to “exercise sufficient caution.”

The full text of the release states thus: “In light of the stabilization of security situation in Sri Lanka as a result of the large-scale and intensive investigations and security re-enforcement by the concerned authorities, the Government of Japan relaxed the travel advisory nation-wide from level-2 (refrain from non-essential travel) to level-1(exercise sufficient caution) on June 25, 2019.

“The Government of Japan, however, continues to advise the Japanese nationals to maintain sufficient vigilance during their stay in Sri Lanka with possible occurrence of terrorist attacks and other incidents of violence in mind.”
