Tea production for October totaled 23.4 million showing an increase of 2.2 million kg compared with October last year of 21.2 million kg.
January-October 2020 cumulative production totalled 224.7 M/kgs recording a deficit of 29.4 M/kgs vis-à-vis 254.2 M/kgs of January-October 2019. On a cumulative basis, all elevations have shown a decrease, with Low Growns showing the highest deficit, according to a broker’s report.
CTC production for the month of October 2020 totalled 1.79 M/kgs, showing a decrease of 0.24 M/kgs vis-à-vis 2.03 M/kgs of October 2019. High Grown production has shown a substantial gain compared to the corresponding month of 2019, whilst Mediums too have shown a marginal gain.
Meanwhile, Low Growns show a fairly significant decrease YOY. Cumulative production, January-October 2020 totalled 19.11 M/kgs, recording a 0.22 M/kgs deficit vis-à-vis 19.33 M/kgs of January-October 2019. On a cumulative basis too, High Growns have recorded a fairly significant gain YOY, whilst Mediums show a marginal decrease. Low Growns, however, have recorded a fairly substantial decrease, it was noted. (SD)
