Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne, a one-time Country Manager for Microsoft Sri Lanka, has been appointed as the new CEO of the Abans Group, according to an official announcement on Tuesday.
In a notice to the Colombo Stock Exchange, Abans said Mr. Wijeyeratne’s appointment is with effect from August 16.
The decision to appoint him was made by the board, in which Mr. Wijeyeratne currently serves as an independent, non-executive director, by a board resolution at a meeting held yesterday (June 18). It was unclear whether he would continue to serve on the board, not as an independent director, but as an executive director.
The former Microsoft executive recently served as Managing Director/CEO at Teejay Lanka where it was announced that he was stepping down with effect from July 3 for personal reasons. – ENDS -
