In the wake of COVID-19, vivo, the global smartphone brand has closed all of its service centres in Sri Lanka until further notice. This strict measure has been taken to ensure the safety of customers and employees, the company said last week.
However, in order to compensate for this vivo has extended the warranty for its smartphones in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the customers with vivo devices that are up on warranty expiration in-between March 16 to 30 has been extended till May 31 2020. This automatic extension is only applicable for vivo devices purchased in Sri Lanka. Customers can check the status of their warranty easily on vivo’s website by entering the IMEI number. “Hence, as a global organisation with greater sense of CSR, vivo believes that the extension of the warranty would facilitate the consumers and show that vivo cares,” company statement said.
“In this crucial time, we stand on our commitment and this warranty extension is provided to facilitate our valued customers amid the COVID -19 outbreak,” said Kevin Jiang, CEO, vivo mobile Sri Lanka.
vivo has already taken a slew of initiatives to curb the spread of COVID – 19. Employees in Sri Lanka are asked to work from home to support the vivo users. During these tough times, the wellbeing of customers, partners, employees and fellow citizens is the company’s number one priority.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
