Entertainment

An exhibition titled “Imaginative Freedom” by Sri Lankan artist Krishantha Subash, showcasing a body of work that reflects nearly four decades of his artistic journey, will be on March 15 and 16 from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. at the Siam House (Siam NIVASA) in Colombo.

The Ambalangoda-born artist, who first exhibited in 1984, presents a collection that highlights his distinctive use of strong linear forms, intricate cross-hatching and vibrant colour, inspired by the cultural traditions of southern Sri Lanka, including mask carving and puppetry.

Subash’s work also explores themes linking tradition with contemporary thought, while demonstrating his willingness to engage with modern tools such as digital design and artificial intelligence as part of his creative process.

The exhibition opened for public viewing last Friday (March 6) under the patronage of Thailand’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Paitoon Mahapannaporn, and New Zealand’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, David Pine.
