Diary of Events: Health, Harmony & Holiday Cheer

The ‘Live Well Health Fair’ will be held on Saturday, November 30, at the Arcade Independence Square, Colombo 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 pm. The event for adults, children, the youth and senior citizens alike, aims to raise awareness of the crucial need to lead a healthy lifestyle devoid of non-communicable diseases. 

The brainchild of Suwa Diviya, a non-profit initiative dedicated to combating the rising incidence of diabetes, the fair is driven by the strong belief that health education and awareness need to be integrated with modern lifestyles across all ages.

If you’re in the mood for some Christmas shopping, hop over to the Santapaws Xmas Bazaar in aid of Rescue Animals Sri Lanka (RAS) on Sunday, December 1 at the Atrium Lobby of the Cinnamon Grand. The Bazaar has over 40 stalls just bursting with goodies.

Catch the next generation of classical musicians when the young musicians of the Junior Symphony Orchestra present a concert on December 3 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.

Directed by Dushyanthi Perera, the current Resident Conductor of the SOSL, the programme includes J.S. Bach’s “Sleepers Wake,” selections from Grieg’s “Peer Gynt”, Holst’s “Jupiter”, the finale from Beethoven’s 5 th  Symphony and works by more modern composers such as Shostakovitch and Britten.

Ring in the festive season with the Old Joes’ Choir as they present A Christmas Wish—a heartwarming choral concert that beautifully blends tradition and the magic of the season. A Christmas Wish will be on December 6 at The Stables, Park Street Mews.
