It’s time for some Shakespeare. Spend the weekend evenings with the Bard as the finals of the All-Island Inter School Shakespeare Drama Competition are worked off on September 14th and 15th at the Bishop’s College Auditorium commencing at 6 p.m. on each day.

The competition is intense and the plays staged by the competing schools are of a high standard. What’s more, it’s a chance to see the next generation of actors in the spotlight!

“Dear Children Sincerely - 7 Decades of Sri Lanka,” an ensemble production by the Stages Theatre Group, directed by Ruwanthie de Chickera delves into Sri Lanka’s history from the 1940s to the present, offering a powerful glimpse into the history the textbooks never taught. Its theme is timely in the current social-political climate as the 2024 Presidential election approaches.

“Dear Children Sincerely - 7 Decades of Sri Lanka” will be staged on September 14 at 6.30 p.m. at Harmony Center, Boralesgamuwa; on September 18 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. – (discounted student shows) at the  University of Kelaniya and on September 19 at 7 p.m. – at  the Lionel Wendt Theatre, Colombo 07.

Techno as a global phenomenon has shaped the history of music since its beginnings in the early 1980s. Techno Worlds presented by the Goethe Institut approaches this multi-layered phenomenon through the works of international artists.

The exhibition will be on display at Rio Hotel’s Cinema Complex in Colombo from September 13 - 28 accompanied by a programme of film screenings, conversations, and performances. The Colombo display will feature an additional section on the history of Pettah Interchange (2012 -2016) in Sri Lanka on September 15 at 5 p.m. at the Rio Complex.
