The dark underworld of wildlife trafficking and the need for collective action to protect Sri Lanka’s amazing natural heritage is the topic of this month’s Nations Trust Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS) lecture.

Samantha Gunasekara and Hasantha Kaushalya will talk on ‘Stolen from the Wild: Confronting the crisis of illegal wildlife trade and biopiracy’ on Thursday, November 21, at 6 p.m. at the Lotus Hall of the BMICH. Entrance is free and open to all.

The Royal College Group of ’81 Walkers will exhibit a collection of their wildlife photographs on November 23 -24 at the Harold Peiris Gallery of the Lionel Wendt. The exhibition, titled ‘On the wild side of life’ is a fundraiser for a Centre for Autism and Neuro-divergence at the premier Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) in Colombo.

“ARRIVAL from Sweden - Music of ABBA”, one of the best known ABBA tribute bands will perform live at the Mount Lavinia Hotel’s Paradise Beach on Saturday, November 23, bringing the sounds of that much-loved Swedish pop group to local audiences.

Nana’s back! Actor, playwright and director Feroze Kamardeen following the success of his one-act play ‘Grow Up Nana’ returns with the sequel ‘Grow Up Nana 2’ on November 22-24 and 28-30 at the Lionel Wendt theatre.

Taking a deep dive into being a Muslim in Sri Lanka, Feroze skirts through a range of topics from misconceptions and idiosyncrasies, trials and triumphs in this hilariously perceptive one-act play.
