Some 24 years after retirement and his gruelling experiences in the midst of conflict, former Army Commander and ambassador, Gen. Srilal Weerasuriya will launch his memoirs titled ‘Duty & Devotion: The Unfiltered Story of a General and Ambassador;. Whilst recalling his own experiences, the book also traces the country’s shifting fortunes from Independence to more recent times.A Vijitha Yapa publication, the book will be officially released on July 7 and will be available at Vijitha Yapa bookshops from July 8. It is priced at Rs. 3,500.
Artist Hashan Cooray is back with his fifth solo exhibition – this titled ‘Dystopia’. Now on at the Saskia Fernando Gallery, Dystopia sees the artist present his paintings and installations, shining a light on individuals and their fraught relationships with the socio-political systems in which they function.
