Join MMCA’s curator’s tours for MMCA’s ‘Total Landscaping’ exhibition

Features

The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka (MMCA Sri Lanka) invites students and the general public to experience the final guided tours of their exhibition ‘Total Landscaping’. The show will close its third and final Rotation on May 29, and members of the public can join Senior Curator Sandev Handy and Assistant Curator Thinal Sajeewa of the MMCA Sri Lanka for insightful Curator Tours over the month of May.

These tours will allow you to engage deeply with the artworks on display through the perspectives of the curatorial team that developed the exhibition.

The Curator’s Tour with Thinal will take place on Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Thinal will take participants through the conceptual and curatorial narratives that shaped Rotation 3 of ‘Total Landscaping’,  focusing on how contemporary artistic practices reimagine familiar terrains and ecological consciousness within the Sri Lankan context.

Sandev’s walk-through of the exhibition will touch upon the curatorial framework for ‘Total Landscaping’ that draws on both contemporary and historical references to explore the politics of land, nature, and built environments. His tours are on Sunday,  May 11 or 25 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Register for these Curator’s Tours as soon as possible on the MMCA Sri Lanka’s Eventbrite page, as slots are limited.

Those seeking a different introduction to the artworks and themes of ‘Total Landscaping’ can join a Visitor educator from the MMCA Sri Lanka for an engaging Exhibition Tour on Thursday,  May 15 from 5 to 6 p.m.

All tours and other public programmes at the MMCA Sri Lanka are free of charge, and are held inside the MMCA Sri Lanka galleries, at Crescat Boulevard, Colombo 03. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Poya and public holidays.
