Day One of Colombo Fashion Week’s main designer showcase for 2019 Spring/Summer
season took place on March 22, in Hilton Colombo’s Grand Ballroom. The show’s line up
consisted exclusively of Sri Lankan designers, and marked the first of three day showcase by
established international and local designers.
The show we started off with a collection by ‘U by Upeksha’, from designer Upeksha Hager.
The night featured collections from Nilanka Silva’s La’ Sari, Amilani Perera, Sharmila
Ruberu’s Meraki, Jaishree’s Jai, Gihan Ediriweera and Aslam Hussein.
The nigh saw a subtle and vibrant take on spring/summer fashion, and heavily featured shift
and A line silhouettes, as well as offshoulder cuts, ballooning and asymmetric sleeves. No
doubt heralding in the trends that will dominate Colombo’s Fashion Scene for the coming
season.
