Over 1.6 million persons have been administered with the COVID-19 vaccine’s booster dose, the Epidemiology Unit said.
According to the Unit, 200,346 people have been administered with the third dose yesterday (14). Vaccination of those above 20 years commenced this week. The Health Ministry plans to administer Pfizer vaccine to school students between ages of 12 and 15.
Over 10 million have got the second dose of Sinopharm vaccine, 1.4 million administered with Covishield vaccine, 155,812 have received the second dose of Sputnik V, 467,323 administered with Pfizer and 787,361 with Moderna COVID vaccine.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa directed authorities to ensure the majority of the public are given the third dose ahead of the festive season.
