The Elections Secretariat has decided to locally purchase 10,000 special cardboard ballot boxes in three sizes for the upcoming presidential election, a senior official said.
The official noted that these boxes would be produced with a special thickness, and sealed, to prevent incidents of tampering.
The official explained that the ballot boxes used at present can only accommodate 400 ballot papers, and this year's 2.2 feet long ballot paper would require three boxes of the same size.
Accordingly, he stated that a need has arisen to purchase additional ballot boxes due to the high number of candidates which stands at 35.
