The Excise Department said that 1200 officers will be deployed to apprehend those involved in selling liquor during this weekend.
The Department also announced that liquor shops will remain closed on April 13 and 14 in line with the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Accordingly, those found to be violating this law will be apprehended by these officers who would operate under the Assistant Excise Commissioners of all provinces.
Further, search operations would also be carried out to arrest those inolved in selling or consuming illicit liquor and narcotics.
