Fifteen schools in Colombo will be given holidays on Monday, February 3 on account of final rehearsals being conducted for the 72nd Independence Day celebrations on February 4.
The Education Ministry stated that the schools located near Independence Square will be given a holiday on February 3 to minimize traffic congestion in the area due to the rehearsals.
The schools that will be closed on February 3 to minimize traffic congestion are D.S. Senananayake College, Royal College, Thurstan College, Yashodara Vidyalaya, Museaus College, St. Briget's Convent, Ladies' College, Colombo International School and Wycherley International School.
Meanwhile, Mahanama College, Polwatta St. Michael's Boys' School and Polwatta St. Mary's Girls' School (including primary section), Mihindu Maha Vidyalaya, Colombo 12, Al Hidaya College, Colombo 10 and Ashoka College, Colombo 10 will be closed on February 3 as they will be used as accommodation by security forces personnel who will be taking part in the rehearsals.
