15% special interest rate to senior citizens cleared for take off

The 15 per cent special interest to senior citizens as announced in last month’s budget on Tuesday was cleared for take-off by the Finance Ministry and will now be implemented by commercial banks, officials said.

The enforcement of this new rate had been held up by delays in the Finance Ministry issuing instructions to the Central Bank to direct banks to enforce the new rate.
