The 160th Police Heroes' Memorial Day which falls today (Mar. 21) was celebrated at Puttalam police headquarters.
Every year on March 21 since 1864, this day is used to honor police officer Sabahan, who is said to have been the first to pass away while on duty.
Puttalam Senior Superintendent of Police W.S.K. Rupasingha and Deputy Inspector General of Police Nalaka Silva, who oversees Puttalam District, paid floral tributes at the Special War Heroes Memorial in remembrance of fallen Police heroes.
Mr. P.H.N. Kulatunga, Chief Inspector of Police and Station Commander of Puttalam Headquarters Police, was also present at the ceremony.
