The 19th Amendment to the constitution was passed in the parliament a short while ago with 215 voting in favor,one against, one abstained and seven were absent. Premlal Jayasekera, Janka Bandara, Jagath Balasuriya, Ven.Ellawela Menadanantha, Keheliya Rambukwella, Basil Rajapaksa and Vinayagamoorthy Muralidaran were not present at the parliament. Sarath Weerasekara voted against the amendment while Ajith Kumara abstained from voting.
