President Anura Kumara Dissanayake appointed G.M.R.D. Aponsu as Secretary to the Ministry of Energy today.
The letter of appointment was handed over by Presidential Secretary Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Secretariat premises.
Mr Aponsu, a senior officer of the Sri Lanka Planning Service, previously served as Senior Additional Secretary to the President on Finance and Economic Affairs.
With expertise in national planning, public financial management and macroeconomic policy, he has played a key role in providing strategic guidance on economic governance and development priorities at the Presidential Secretariat, a Press Release from the Presidential Media Division said..
An alumnus of the University of Ruhuna, University of Colombo and Australian National University, Mr Aponsu has held positions across several key state institutions, including the National Planning and Budget Departments and the Inland Revenue Department.
He has also contributed to academia, serving as a lecturer and consultant at institutions such as the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration and the University of Colombo’s IHRA.
