All Members of Parliament (MPs) were today asked to have their fingerprints recorded as the House prepares to switch to an electronic voting system from the present verbal system of taking a vote.
Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala asked all MPs to co-operate with the Secretary General of Parliament and his staff in recording the fingerprints.
A new sounds system as well as an electronic voting system has been installed in the Chamber and the electronic voting system will be tested when the vote on the Second Reading of the Budget is taken on November 18.
