The Joint Council of Professions Supplementary to Medicine and Paramedic Services have launched a strike with effect from 8 am today (Oct 30).
Union Chairman Upul Rohana said that facilities such as issuing medicines to patients, obtaining X-Rays and ECG's could be disrupted as a result of the strike.
He noted that they would resort to further trade union action in the coming days if a solution is not given to their demands.
A total of 21 unions are expected to join the strike.
