State Fisheries Minister Dileep Wedaarachchi said that 21 Sri Lankan fishermen who were arrested for poaching in Maldivian waters will be returned today.
The fishermen are expected to arrive on flight UL 104 at around 9 pm, Mr. Wedaarachchi said.
The State Minister also noted that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had held discussions with Maldivian authorities to release the fishermen.
Meanwhile Rs 1.6 million has been allocated to purchase air tickets, and provide food for these fishermen who will be deported tonight.
