A 23-year old youth who was convicted for the illegal possession of 9.41 grams of heroin was sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court today.
The convict who was identified as Ranga Sumith Bandara was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in 2012 for the illegal possession and trade of heroin in Grandpass.
High Court judge Gihan Kulathunga, while delivering the verdict said that todays youth are addicted to drugs and this verdict should serve as a warning to the entire community.
