The Cabinet has approved the import of 25,000 MT of urea fertilizer for paddy cultivation in the Yala season.
Considering the amount of urea fertilizer available in the two government fertilizer companies and the private sector and the remaining stocks in agricultural service centers, it was decided to import 25,000 metric tons of Urea fertilizer.
60 percent of the fertilizer is to be imported by the Ceylon Fertilizer Company and 40 percent by the Colombo Commercial Fertilizers Limited.
Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera.
