A decision has been taken to suspend 40 fuel stations that have continuously not adhered to QR quotas. Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara stated on Twitter.
The decision was taken during a progress review meeting held this morning with the management and officers of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL), the minister said.
The fuel cargo plan for the next eight weeks, refinery operations and fuel distribution during the festive season, were reviewed during today's meeting.
It was decided to suspend 40 fuel stations that have continuously not adhered to QR quotas. All fuel stations will be required to maintain a minimum of 50% of stock tank capacity. GPS tracking systems will be fixed to all CPC owned Fuel tankers by 15th April & all private tankers will follow, the minister stressed.
