A five-year-old boy has died after drowning in a swimming pool of a hotel in Nugegoda, Mirihana.
Police said the incident had occurred last evening. The victim had been participating in a swimming lesson with several teachers and fellow students of his preschool under the guidance of a coach when the tragedy occurred. He had been rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital but his life could not be saved.
The victim was a resident of Thalapathpitiya, Nugegoda. The remains are currently lying at the Kalubowila Hospital and Mirihana Police are conducting investigations.
