At least 69 more COVID19 infected persons have been identified in Divulapitiya and Minuwangoda areas after some 150 PCR tests carried out yesterday, Lieutenant-General Shavendra Silva, Head of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said today.
The new set of COVID19 cases reported after an employee from a garment factory in Gampaha was found positive yesterday. Her daughter also tested positive later.
As many as 7,000 persons including persons from the garment factory, those who had associated with the family of the garment factory employee and their families have been put on a 14-day quarantine. Among those put on quarantine are 400 garment factory employees.
The curfew is effective in the Minuwangoda, Divulapitiya and Weyangoda areas. At least 10 persons who violated the curfew were arrested overnight.
