The Elections Secretariat has received 700,000 postal vote applications for the presidential election, a senior official said, after its deadline ended last Friday.
The official noted that steps are being taken to scrutinise these applications following which the final number of postal voters would be decided.
Public sector employees including those involved in election duties, officers engaged in essential services, police and military personnel are entitled for postal voting.
