The Prisons Police Unit has said that 837 mobile phones and more than a 1000 SIM cards have been recovered during raids carried out on prisons islandwide.
These items had been seized during 150 search operations over the last nine months, Police said. According to the Prisons Police Unit, the highest number of phones had been recovered from the Kalutara prison.
Police noted that 244 mobile phones and 135 SIM cards have been sent to the Terrorist Investigation Division while the rest have been sent to the Criminal Investigations Department.
