Eight hundred and seventy eight persons tested positive for COVID-19 during the past 24 hours with the majority of them reported from Colombo district, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 said.
The Task Force on COVID-19 said that all those who tested positive yesterday are close contacts of the infected persons.
According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, the total number of COVId-19 infected persons increased to 25, 410. Among them, 6,982 patients are currently being treated at hospitals. So far, 124 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported in the country with two more deaths reported yesterday.
