The Cabinet has given approval to the Health Ministry to utilize finances and grants from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to enhance quality and capacity building programmes in Secondary, Treatment hospitals.
Cabinet spokesman as well as Health and Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayathissa said that the ADB has expressed their concurrence to provide US Dollars 100 million as result based budget assistance for the quality and capacity building programme in secondary treatment hospitals throughout the island.
According to him the finances and grants would be provided to increase capacity and quality standardization, pharmaceutical drugs supply chain, transparency and efficiency within secondary treatment hospitals as well as strengthening in health procurement and financing system.
As subject Minister Dr Jayathissa said that the cabinet gave the approval to execute this project from 2025 to 2030, utilizing the said finances / grants which is provided via the result based loan grant methodology.
