Dr. Saman Ratnayake, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health, has appeared before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court today (Mar. 4) morning after being placed under detention following the scandal involving the substandard medication procurement on Saturday (Mar. 2).
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested him on Friday (Mar. 1), in relation to the incident involving the substandard purchase of human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG).
The court has further ordered the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health to be kept apart from the other detained suspects of the case after he declared in court on Friday (Mar. 1) that he was prepared to make a statement to courts

The Colombo High Court today (28) sentenced former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra to three years of Rigorous Imprisonment over charges of the involvement of an abduction.
In his special statement, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that debt restructuring agreements will postpone all bilateral loan payments to foreign countries until 2028. Additionally, Sri Lanka will have until 2043 to repay these loans on concessional terms.
