The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) reported a decrease in air quality in the Colombo, Jaffna, Mannar, and Galle areas.
Patients who have respiratory issues or medical illnesses related to respiratory system should therefore exercise caution, the CEA warns
The quality drop has been attributed to the entry of various air pollutants through air currents passing through the island, particularly wind currents from outer regions including the Bay of Bengal.
The CEA noted that there is a slight possibility that this occurrence may impact the health of the residents in the said areas.
Therefore, individuals who suffer from lung-related conditions, such asthma, are advised to be cautious and use facemasks to safeguard their health.
It is anticipated that the present state will progressively improve and return to normal in a few days, the CEA further mentioned.
