An all party conference is scheduled to be held at 5.30 pm today(26) under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Earlier this week, President Wickremesinghe called all party leaders to attend the conference in which he plans to brief MPs on the progress of the national reconciliation programme.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has announced his attendance along with several senior MPs representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
The Tamil National Alliance led by R.Sampanthan have informed their presence at the all party conference to be held at the Presidential Secretariat.
However, JVP affiliated National People’s Power is to boycott the conference.
Prior to his official visit to India, President Wickremesinghe met with leaders of Tamil parties on the full implementation of the 13th Amendment sans police powers.
During his official visit to India, President Wickremesinghe said he presented Premier Modi the comprehensive proposal for furthering reconciliation, power sharing through devolution and the multiple elements of the Northern development plan.
“I have invited all party leaders in Parliament to work towards consensus and national unity on these measures. Thereafter the government will place the relevant legislation before Parliament,” Mr.Wickremesinghe said.
