Colombo High Court today acquitted Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage from the misappropriation of Rs.3.9 million belonging to trade unions.
The Minister who served as Minister of Sports in past was accused of misappropriation of funds belonging to Sri Lanka Nidahas Kamkaru Congress, a trade union affiliated with Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).
Earlier the Attorney General filed charge sheets against the Minister for committing a criminal breach of trust with regard to Rs 1 million and misappropriated another Rs 2.9 million belonging to the trade union.
