Another group of eight individuals from two families from Jaffna reached Arichchalmunai, Tamil Nadu this morning due to the ongoing economic crisis in the country.
The families are originally from Valvettithurai, Jaffna. The Tamil Nadu Marine Police Unit placed them at the Mandapam Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee camp currently.
The family members told the Tamil Nadu State authorities that they decided to leave the country since the economic crisis in the country got worsened to the extent that they cannot support their families with the increasing cost of living and skyrocketing inflation of essential goods.
In recent weeks, over 120 Sri Lankan refugees reached Tamil Nadu due to the current economic crisis. (Pix by N. Lohathayalan)
