Appeal by Shashi Weerawansa to be considered tomorrow
The bail application of Ms Sashi Weerawansa who was sentenced to a two-year jail term after being found guilty of fraudulently preparing a diplomatic passport was postponed for tomorrow. The appeal was taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe.
The court issued notice on the Attorney General to make submissions on its position about the bail application filed.
Ms Weerawansa escorted by Prison officials was brought to court today. MPs Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Dullas Allahapperuma was present in courts. (Pix by M.A. Pushpakumar)
