A consignment of 91,000 kilos of organic manure produced by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) was handed over to the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Ltd during a brief ceremony held at the 22 Division HQ in Trincomalee recently.
Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander General Shavendra Silva symbolically handed over the stock to Regional Manager (East) of ‘Lak Pohora’ Ceylon Fertilizer Company Ltd. Dammika Rathnayake for distribution among the farmer community, the SLA said.
Troops serving under the Security Force Headquarters East produced the stock of organic fertilizer on the directives of Commander, Security Forces-East Maj. Gen. Channa Weerasuriya, the SLA also stated.
The ceremony organized to handover the stock organic fertilizer was held under the stipulated health guidelines.
