Sri Lanka Army troops are engaged in urgent repairs related to the damaged swinging bridge that connects Pigeons Island with Matara town while undertaking the construction of the temporary alternative bridge.
Troops of the 12 Engineer Regiment, 14 Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Response Regiment, 16 Workshop Regiment, 4 Engineer Regiment, 12 Corps of Engineer Service, 613 Brigade and 3 Gemunu Watch are immensely contributing to the project under the supervision of senior officers, Army said.
This bridge facilitates the movement of visitors to the temple in Pigeons Island where the Sri Rohana Sangha Sabha ‘Uposhithagaraya’ is situated.
