Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has setup112 Intermediate Care Centres (ICCs) with 20,000 beds to strengthen the government’s effort to treat COVID-19 patients, under the directions of Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva, Army said.
In a bid to cater the timely requirement, a large number of metal beds were assembled at the Army Industrial Complex, Kosgama by the SLA Ordnance Corps. Meanwhile, they also have stitched 60,002 bedclothes for the exclusive use of ICCs.
All countrywide SLA Security Force HQs in coordination with the state healthcare and the private sector have strengthened the healthcare facilities utilizing their resources and expertise within a short span, the SLA said.
