The Customs today detected gold items valued at Rs 36.2 million from a passenger who tried to walk through the Green Channel of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) claiming the person had nothing valuable to be declared, officials said.
The passenger arrived on Sri Lankan Airlines from Paris.
Customs officials said that the gold items was concealed in the bags.
The gold items were weighed 2414.6 grams.
The gold items was confiscated and a fine was due to be imposed.
