Beautician arrested for threatening Govt Audit officer

A beautician and two businessmen have been arrested for threatening a Government Audit officer in the North Western Province over an ongoing audit, Police said today.

The Colombo Crime Division had launched an investigation into a complaint lodged by an Audit officer of the North Western Province Motor Traffic Department claiming that unidentified persons had arrived at his house and threatend to harm his life in addition to threatening him over the phone.

The suspects had thretened him over an ongoing audit investigation over certain malpractices.

Subsequently a 26 year beautician from Kolonnawa and two businessmen aged 33 and 38 from Wariyapola were arrested on Thursday on allegations of threatening a public officer over his official duties.
