Dr. Patrick Mendis, an alumnus of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), has been appointed as an advisor to the National Security Education Board (NSEB) by US President Joe Biden.
Dr. Mendis, a Sri Lankan-born former U.S. diplomat, has a distinguished career spanning international relations, government, and academia.
Upon completion of his studies at the USJ, Dr. Mendis continued his academic journey at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
His selection to the National Security Education Board is a testament to his extraordinary credentials and profound understanding of concerns with both domestic and global implications.
The NSEB, chaired by the U.S. Secretary of Defence, comprises 14 members including defence, education, energy, homeland security, state, and the director of National Intelligence, including eight Cabinet secretaries and six six distinguished American citizens of global prominence.
