Blast kills youth in Mullaithivu; another injured
A 19-year-old youth was killed in a blast in Vadduvaakal, Mullaitivu last evening, police said. Another youth was hospitalized with severe injuries.
The victim is identified as Chandrakumar Thirushanth from Selvapuram, Mullaitivu. The incident occurred on the Vadduvaakal bride near the Navy camp.
According to the police, preliminary investigations suggested that a buried unknown item exploded when the youths were clearing the nearby land.
One of them was pronounced to be dead on admission at Mullaithivu hospital and another injured youth was transferred to Jaffna teaching hospital for further treatment. (Pix by N.Lohathayalan)
